Bikky turned down the narrow alleyway on his way home from school. He had long ago gave up riding the bus home after the first few bad confrontations he had with some of the stoners on the bus. He stuffed his hands into his coat pockets, double checking his portable CD player. He stared straight ahead, music blaring from his headphones.

The blond boy turned down yet another alleyway. He knew almost all the short-cuts in the town, and knew which alleyways to avoid. He'd be home to Ryo's apartment shortly. He already had plans to go check on the puppy hidden from Ryo in the parking lot building. He knew Ryo would say no to keeping the pup, so Bikky did the next best thing: hide it somewhere. Luckily, the apartment building, being one of the best in the city, had a building for parking located behind the actual building. This gave plenty of room to build the dog a shelter out of view.

When Bikky arrived at the apartment he went straight to the parking lot. He saw Ryo's car as he climbed the steeply ascending grounds. He also saw a strange man standing by Ryo's car. Bikky stopped and turned to look at the guy, obviously trying to get into Ryo's car. The guy looked familiar. Bikky had seen him around the apartment loitering.

"Hey!" Bikky yelled. The guy looked up at Bikky, staring him straight in the eye. "Are you an acquiantance of this cop?" The guy responded. Upon hearing this, Bikky froze. He remembered what the latest news in the police station has been about. The cop killer. Bikky turned to run back towards the entrance, only to find two more men approaching him. He was trapped...

Ryo continued through the parking garage. He swore he just bought a gallon of milk the other day. Bikky must be growing or something. He needed the milk for the potato soup he was making for supper so he had to go to the store.

As he got closer to the car he heard a something. Sounded like a fight. He ran the rest of the way and skidded to a stop as he noticed Bikky being held by these guys. Ryo reached for his holster and pulled out his gun. "Freeze!" He screamed. "Let the boy go now!"

Bikky, happy to see Ryo, gained a higher confidence. He shook one of his arms free from the guys grasp and swung his foot toward the other, striking him hard in the groin.

Noticing Bikky taking on the other guys Ryo charged who he suspected was the leader of the gang. Knocking him down Ryo's hand accidently slipped and his gun flew away from him.

Bikky watched in horror as he seen the first guy pull out a gun and aim it directly at Ryo. He tried to run to his adoptive fathers aid, but was stopped short by the guys two comrades. Bikky fell hard to the ground grabbing the first guys leg as he fell, forcing the guy to lose his aim. The gun went off. Bikky saw blood splatter. His heart dropped as he seen Ryo grab his chest where blood was beginning to pour out in gushes.

Ryo watched the gun point at him then everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Bikky fall the distant crack of gunshot going of and the blood. It seemed to be everywhere and it confused him for a second. Where did it come from he thought.

Then he felt it the searing pain that wasn't there seconds ago. He never knew that being shot in the chest would have a delayed pain. It never did when it was just an arm or a leg. Putting his hand on his chest he looked at Bikky, he was awfully pale.

Ryo was eyes started to blur. He was going to pass out. He managed to say to Bikky "Run!" before he hit the ground and everything went black.
